Family v. Corporate

Family v. Corporate

When choosing a funeral home, please think about whether the business is owned by a local family or a large corporation. There are many differences that you may not realize until after you have made your decision and it is just too late.

Publicly-owned corporations are viable funeral homes present in pretty much every city in the nation. They have been consolidating the funeral business, and until recently, have often bought family-owned businesses. Corporations often even keep the family name of the business that has been operating in your community for years, thinking a local family will trust a well-known name instead of a national chain they know nothing about. The buying and consolidating trend has since reversed, primarily because these publicly-owned corporations do not offer the same top-notch customer service or affordable pricing as family-owned funeral homes. Corporations have more overhead and a responsibility to stock holders and a board of directors pushing to grow profits year after year. As a result, patrons end up paying more money and receive less value for the funeral service.

Buchanan Funeral Service is family-owned and operated and has a stake in the local community. We are a trusted name and offer direct access to the owner and funeral director, Ray Buchanan. We pride ourselves in trust, service, attention to detail, professionalism and extra support. Bottom line, our top priority is you and the service you receive, not the drive to increase our profit.
